A reminder about the 8th grade trip!

The trip is starting to fill up, and limited space is left available. The original deadline was a little flexible, and parents can still sign their 8th graders up for this awesome opportunity to visit Universal Orlando.

Information about the Trip--
The cost will cover a 3 night stay at Springhill Suites, park admission for 3 days, breakfasts each morning, and a meal card for $100 that can be used in the parks and/or CityWalk. (Please note: the final cost of the trip is based on how many people are in a hotel room.) There will be a payment schedule available.

A deposit of $225 per person must be made by August 13 to reserve a spot. The registration link is provided below-

Remember, the trip deposit must be made by August 13th to reserve a spot for this trip. Space is limited, and we must have a total of 45 students and parent chaperones to make the trip happen. Parent chaperones will be expected to oversee their child and a very small group of students.

Once the trip minimum is fulfilled we will have a meeting with students and parent chaperones to discuss further details.

🦅 Student drop-off starts at 6:45 AM. (This is when teachers go on duty).

⏰ The first class starts at 7:15. For Monday, August 11 ONLY, students will report to homeroom first when dismissed from the cafeteria or gym. Teachers will review schedules with students, and then we will follow our normal rotation.

🦅 Clear backpacks- clear purses or a small clutch size purse - are the only acceptable backpack on campus. If your child did not attend Meet the Teacher, he/she will receive his/her backpack during homeroom. This does not include lunchboxes.

🦅Lane 1 is closed in the morning and afternoon due to safety issues.

🦅 Teachers will ask if you have your child by using a thumbs up or down. Thumbs up means you do have your child; thumbs down means you do not.

🦅 Please follow the instructions of the teachers directing traffic. They are watching out for the safety of our students; they are also trying to move traffic along as quickly as possible.

🚗 Please do not block any driveways in the neighborhood. 🚗

🚸🚸An additional note: the first few weeks of school, the carline drop-off and pick-up may take extra time as everyone learns the procedures. Please be patient with the teachers directing traffic.🚸🚸

Picture to announce information for 8th grade trip
Parents,
The information is listed below if you need to review bus information for the 2025-2026 school year. We have also copied the link from MCPSS.

https://www.mcpss.com/o/mcps/page/bus-stop-information
(Look for information on magnet schools).

If you are unfamiliar with the bus routes for magnet school, please read below for some information and tips, especially the letter from transportation.

Clark-Shaw is the hub for all magnet school buses. This means all magnet school buses from zone schools come directly to Clark. When students are dismissed from the buses, our students will report to the cafeteria or their location for the morning time. Other magnet school students will board their bus for their school. You need to find your zone bus information for morning drop-off and afternoon pickup.

Yearbook photos are scheduled for Monday, August 18. Photos will be taken during the students’ PE period. Students are required to wear their blazer and tie for photos.

We have switched photography companies, so prepay envelopes will not be sent home this year. Proofs will be sent home a couple weeks after picture day, and parents can order the photos through Lifetouch if desired. A post will be made when the proofs are sent home.

July 18-20 is Alabama's Tax Free Weekend! This is a great time to purchase basic supplies needed for the year, as well as purchase some extras to replenish throughout the school year.

Parents, we will not be providing supplies at Meet the Teacher like we have been able to do in the past several years. Supply lists for each grade level are included.

Teachers may request other items in their syllabus at the beginning of the year.

We suggest keeping a small supply of school items at home to assist with any projects and/or homework assignments.
